Psychiatrist charged with fraud
State fraud investigators arrested a Coral Gables psychiatrist and charged her Thursday in connection with a scheme to steal from Medicaid and Medicare.
Dr. Moraima Trujillo, 52, who has an office at 401 Coral Way, is accused of billing the programs for more than $1 million in services she didn’t provide.
Trujillo submitted reports claiming she worked between 20 and 40 hours a day on 207 different days in 2004, according to the Florida Attorney General’s office.
Trujillo was charged with grand theft and an organized scheme to defraud. If convicted, she faces up to 60 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
She was being held Thursday at the Miami-Dade County jail and is scheduled for an April 12 court hearing.

She is only one of many psychiatrists who fraudulently bill for services they didn’t deliver. The noteworthy thing is-she got caught. Up here in Canada, with our socialized medicine, these crooks do it as a matter of course and the government ministry doling out the taxpayer’s money couldn’t care less.
