The American Psychiatric Association (APA) has put out a guideline for psychiatrists which seeks to avoid the embarrassing psycho-babble that follows when the media contact psychs seeking a reason for incidents such as the Virginia Tech. shootings.

Basically the directive is to say nothing unless you have personally examined the person involved. Fair enough. What I found amazing was that the directive came from a branch of the APA known as the APA Ethics Committee.

What sort of a distortion of the word ‘ethics’ is being used when a body that not only tolerates but actively encourages the cutting, burning, shocking and drugging of people’s brains in crazed attempts to fix problems of the mind forms an ‘Ethics Committee’. The mind boggles.
